A newly constructed water supply scheme at Uchiwa Awang Leikai was officially handed over to the Village Water & Sanitation Committee (VWSC) by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Imphal West. During the handover programme, officials highlighted the importance of proper water management, conservation, and judicious use of drinking water to ensure long-term sustainability of the scheme. Speaking at the occasion, Mayang Imphal AC MLA Kongkham Robindro stated that people must move forward with unity and collective responsibility, especially during these challenging times.
He also emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and harmony.The MLA further urged everyone to extend support and assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) currently staying in various relief camps, encouraging the public to show compassion and solidarity towards them. The programme was attended by Additional Chief Engineer of PHED Imphal West RK Dorendra, Superintending Engineer Soibam Oisis, SDO of Wangoi Block Maibam Suranjoy Singh, and other officials of the PHED department.
PHED officials also briefed the public on proper water usage and maintenance practices to ensure the smooth functioning of the water supply scheme.
