10 people have been arrested in Kangpokpi for drug trafficking and illegal poppy cultivation

In a massive crackdown on narcotics smuggling, Manipur police captured ten people in two separate operations on drug trafficking and illegal poppy growing in Kangpokpi. The cops nabbed six drug dealers in connection with a case filed at Kangpokpi police station. The captives have been named as Khaikahao Kipgen alias John, Letgoumang Touthang alias Amon, Aabi Baral, Jitten Kharka, L H Ranirou, and Leah Chao.

During the operation, police confiscated 174 soap cases carrying suspected brown sugar and retrieved a four-wheeler from the suspects. Meanwhile, four people were arrested in a separate operation for their involvement in illicit poppy cultivation in Songjang village, which is located along IT Road and falls under the jurisdiction of Kangpokpi police station. The apprehended individuals have been identified as Janggoulen Kipgen, Letginlal Kipgen, Kamginlen Kipgen, and Thangminlen Kipgen.

All 10 arrested individuals were turned over to the appropriate police stations for further legal action. Meanwhile, earlier this year, 4.8 hectares of illegal poppy production were destroyed in Senapati district.
