15 suspects are arrested by Manipur Police in a drug trafficking operation

Manipur’s state police arrested 15 alleged drug users and dealers on January 22 during an operation in the North AOC area as part of a larger campaign to combat drug trafficking in the state. Eight women and seven men were among the people in custody. The operation found no unlawful items based on credible information. The authorities’ emphasis on both rehabilitation and enforcement is demonstrated by the fact that the detainees were sent to rehabilitation institutes for treatment following a comprehensive check.

Meanwhile, in the dangerous hill and valley district, security forces continued their regular area dominance exercises and search operations. The state’s vital roads, National Highways 2 and 37, were the focus of increased efforts to guarantee the secure transportation of necessities. 233 vehicles on NH-37 and 304 cars on NH-2 were escorted under convoy protection on January 22. The state has set up 108 checkpoints across hills and valleys to improve safety. No other detentions occurred during the security operation, according to authorities.

It emphasized the proactive measures being taken to guarantee public safety and decrease criminal activities. To combat the rising problem of drug addiction in Meghalaya, a 50-bed Centre of Excellence was established at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) earlier this month. With funding from the Center, the Centre of Excellence offered cutting-edge drug addiction treatment facilities and acted as a prototype for all-encompassing recovery.
