In the Lamlai Police Station in the Imphal East division, Manipur Police have detained two young men in relation to a case of sexual assault involving a young girl in Tellou Mayai Leikai.
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been used to register the case, which has raised serious concerns in the neighbourhood.
The accused have been identified as 20-year-old Kshtrimayum Ajoy from Tellou Mayai Leikai and 21-year-old Mangsatabam Ajay from Nongada Kameng Khunjao, both residents of Imphal East. The arrests were made on July 20.
Authorities stated that prompt action was taken as soon as the complaint was filed. The investigation into the case is currently ongoing, with officials assuring that all legal protocols under the POCSO Act are being diligently observed.
