EcoNetwork Manipur’s drive for plastic wastes management has been intensified under the Clean and Green Mission. The Network is working in coordination with several Self-Help Groups in Heirok to address the growing challenge of plastic pollution across the region. It seeks support from the State govenment to manage the activity with enhanced public participation.
According to a press statement released by its President, Shinthangamba Laishram,members of the EcoNetwork and representatives from various Selp-Help Groups of the area have been actively collecting discarded plastic materials from drains, streets, roadsides etc.,where plastic wastes are dumped indiscriminately.
EcoNetwork has recently completed the 46th round of handing over plastic wastes to M/s Ashok Traders for recycling and reuse, marking a sustained effort to convert the plastic wastes into reusable resources.
