The 35th Annual Yaoshang Sports Meet 2026, organized by the Local Upliftment Committee (LUC) Club, concluded at Maibi Lampak located at Thiyam Leishangkhong in Yumnam Huidrom. The sports meet was held as part of the Yaoshang festival celebrations that lasted for three days. As part of the closing programme of the Yaoshang Sports Meet, a “Thouri Chingnaba Changdam Competition” (traditional tug-of-war competition) was also organized under the Wangoi Kendra.
A total of 15 teams from different localities under Wangoi Kendra participated in the Thouri Chingnabi Changdamnaba competition. The closing function and the competition were attended by several distinguished personalities including former Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh, Retired Teacher Huidrom Sindur Singh, Ward No. 11 Caretaker of Thongkhong Luxmi Bazar Municipal Council Huidrom Shyamchand Singh (Echamba), and Caretaker Chairperson of Thongkhong Luxmi Bazar Municipal Council Yumnam Jamuna Devi, along with many local residents.
The Thouri Chingnabi Changdamnaba competition was formally inaugurated by former Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh. Consolation prizes were also distributed to the participating teams from different areas under Wangoi Kendra. In the final of the competition, Samarou Makha Leikai Meira Paibi team defeated Samushang Santipur Meira Paibi team and emerged as the champion. The Samushang Santipur Meira Paibi team secured the runner-up position. The winning team Samarou Makha Leikai Meira Paibi was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, while the runner-up team Samushang Santipur Meira Paibi received Rs. 6,000. The prizes were distributed by former Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh to the two teams.
