37th National Road Safety Month wraps up in Jiribam

The 37th National Road Safety Month, observed from January 1 to 31 in Jiribam district, came to a close with a simple ceremony held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Jiribam on Friday. The event was organised by the District Administration, Jiribam, in collaboration with the District Transport Office.
Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS, thanked all stakeholders, especially the District Police Jiribam, the newly opened District Transport Office, and other line departments, for their successful observation of the 37th Road Safety Month.
He highlighted that during the month-long observation, awareness and enforcement drives were carried out in different areas of the district, Road safety pamphlets, stickers, helmets, and other items were distributed to the general public to promote road safety awareness. A district-level competition was also organized, featuring painting and debate competitions. A bike rally was conducted, which was actively participated by the district police, CRPF, students from colleges and schools, and different youth organizations. Additionally, a wall painting competition on the theme of road safety was held at different locations, which was highly appreciated.
The Deputy Commissioner also extended heartfelt appreciation to all officers and stakeholders who actively participated in the month-long campaign. The dedicated efforts of the district police, under the leadership of the Superintendent of Police, and the district transport officer, as well as all line departments, were acknowledged.
Krishna Kumar urged the citizens of Jiribam to follow traffic rules sincerely and encourage others to do the same. He emphasized that collective action is necessary to achieve the goal of reducing road accidents and saving precious lives.
With the conclusion of the Road Safety Month, the district administration reiterated its commitment to promoting road safety and reducing road accidents. The event was marked with a sense of accomplishment and a renewed commitment to work towards a safer and more responsible community.
The closing ceremony was attended by senior officials, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Th, Manoranjan Singh, MCS, SDC Jiribam,S. Sitaranjit Singh, DTO Jiribam, M. Vikash and other departmental officials.
