50 acres of illegal poppy cultivation was destroyed by Manipur security forces

The security forces and forest division authorities began a series of coordinated operations that resulted in the destruction of 50 acres of illegal poppy production in Manipur. The first operation involved the unauthorized destruction of poppies at Kotzim in the district by Kangpokpi’s forest division and security forces.

Three farm houses, fertilizer, and chemicals used by growers were burned at the site, and ten acres of poppy production were destroyed. A routine case has been filed for examination. At the Hill range of Loikong, Tengnoupal district, 40 acres of illegal poppies were destroyed as a result of another operation. A routine case has been filed for examination. The poppy eradication campaign is a component of continuous initiatives to stop illicit poppy cultivation and to stop drug manufacturing in the area.
