After Budget Session, Cabinet Expansion on Cards, Says MLA Robindro

BJP MLA Tongbram Robindro Singh announced that the expansion of Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh’s cabinet is anticipated to occur following the forthcoming budget session of the state Assembly. Y. Khemchand Singh assumed the role of Chief Minister on February 4, after the revocation of President’s rule. Alongside him, BJP MLA Nemcha Kipgen, representing the Kuki community, and Naga People’s Front legislator L. Dikho were sworn in as deputy chief ministers. Additionally, BJP’s Govindas Konthoujam and NPP’s K. Loken Singh also took their oaths as ministers.

Robindro emphasized during a press interaction, “There definitely will be expansion of the council of ministers, but it will take a few more days as the budget session is coming up.” He mentioned that the Assembly’s budget session would begin after the Holi festival, indicating that ministerial expansion is expected thereafter. In response to media inquiries regarding the demands for a separate administration by Kuki-Zo civil organizations, Minister Govindas Konthoujam articulated that in a democratic system, it is legitimate for anyone to express their demands. He stated, “India is the greatest democratic country, and anybody can demand anything. There is no harm in demanding anything they (Kuki Zo) feel.”
