AkzoNobel’s Project Revive transforms lives, boosts business in Northeast

AkzoNobel India, the maker of Dulux paints, celebrated three years of its flagship initiative, Project Revive, which has transformed the lives of over 800 drug-rehabilitated youth in Assam, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh. The program equips participants with vocational skills in decorative painting, creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and fostering community development.

Launched in Manipur in 2021 in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Makers Foundation, the project initially trained youth across 21 Drug Rehabilitation Centers (DRCs) in five districts. With its expansion to Assam in 2023 and Arunachal Pradesh in 2024, Project Revive now spans 34 DRCs, benefiting 840 individuals. Graduates receive employment as professional painters and continued support to minimize relapse risks.

In Imphal, the initiative has spurred a rise in the demand for skilled painters, particularly in residential and commercial sectors. Trainees are now leveraging their skills to contribute to local businesses, enhancing market activity while inspiring others to seek sustainable livelihoods. Recognized with a Special Mention at the 2nd North East CSR Awards 2024 in Guwahati, Project Revive underscores AkzoNobel’s commitment to sustainable development. Executive Director RohitTotla remarked, “Project Revive is not just transforming individuals; it’s uplifting entire communities.”
