Amit Shah assures CM Khemchand of full support for rehabilitation of IDPs

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, marking their first meeting since Khemchand became chief minister on February 4. Accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Losii Dikho and Nemcha Kipgen, Khemchand discussed steps to enhance community relations following the establishment of the BJP-led coalition. Shah assured them of the Central Government’s support for peace and stability in Manipur and emphasized the importance of rehabilitating internally displaced persons (IDPs). Khemchand’s visit also involved paying respects to the late Vungzagin Valte at Medanta Hospital, where he expressed condolences to the grieving family, indicating solidarity during their mourning. A subsequent condolence meeting was attended by various leaders, family members, and Zomi community representatives in Delhi, highlighting the collective response to the loss. Khemchand’s trip is also seen as a precursor to a cabinet expansion, as the current government has five ministers.
