Army Chief Reviews Security In Manipur

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi paid a day-long visit to Manipur on Wednesday to evaluate the current security situation and review the operational readiness of Indian Army and Assam Rifles units stationed in the state. The visit reaffirmed the Army’s strong commitment to restoring peace, stability, and promoting development in the conflict-affected region.

General Dwivedi was briefed on the ground situation and the ongoing operations aimed at returning normalcy to the state. He assessed the preparedness of troops and praised their resilience, professionalism, and dedication in handling the region’s complex security challenges. During the visit, he also met with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to discuss the wider security landscape and cooperation between military and civil authorities to achieve lasting peace.

Emphasizing the importance of cultural unity and military tradition, the Army Chief is also set to attend a match in the 134th Durand Cup at Imphal’s Khuman Lampak Stadium. The tournament’s return to Imphal after two years will feature an opening ceremony showcasing traditional performances and military displays.
