Awareness programme on EMF radiation, cyber security conducted

A one-day awareness programme on “EMF Radiation: Facts & Myths and Cyber Security and Citizen-Centric Services” was held today at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
During the programme, officers from the Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Manipur State Unit, Northeast Licensed Service Area, along with Sanchar Mitra, delivered detailed PowerPoint presentations on various important topics. These included problems of cyber-crime through telecom services, the Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP), AI and facial recognition-powered solutions for telecom SIM subscriber verification (ASTR), AI-based and other tools for detecting fraudulent cases, prevention of international spoof calls, prevention and reporting of cyber fraud, Sanchar Saathi Portal, Know Your Mobile (KYM), Chakshu, and the importance of Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR), among others.
It was highlighted that in case of any cyber-crime or cyber fraud, complaints can be registered by calling the national helpline number 1930 or through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, who also attended the programme, stressed the importance of remaining vigilant at all times, especially as offices increasingly use multiple online devices in their day-to-day work. She urged the officers present to spread awareness at the community level to help prevent cyber-related incidents and expressed her appreciation to the Department of Telecommunication team for taking such an important initiative.
The programme aimed to enhance awareness, strengthen cyber preparedness, and promote safe and informed use of digital and telecom services was organised for Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) and District Level Officers of Bishnupur district.
