The District Administration of Pherzawl has stepped up its campaign to safeguard children by organizing a Special Adoption Awareness Campaign-cum-Awareness Program on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, 2012, at Parbung village on Friday and at the DC Office Complex on Saturday.
The initiative was conducted in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Village Authority Members, and the Youth Clubs, underscoring the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the rights, dignity, and future of children, particularly girls.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching, IAS, underscored the importance of preventive awareness and prompt reporting of offenses involving children. She elaborated on the safeguards provided under the POCSO Act, 2012, which protects minors below 18 years from sexual assault, harassment, and exploitation, including emerging cyber-related threats.
The deputy commissioner also urged communities to remain vigilant against social evils such as child marriage and child labor. Calling for collective responsibility, she encouraged parents, community leaders, and citizens to familiarize themselves with legal provisions and work together to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for children.
The program concluded with participants taking a pledge to uphold child rights and strengthen community commitment toward child safety and protection.
