The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh on Thursday launched a three-month-long Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan, aimed at promoting India’s self-reliance under the theme “Vocal for Local.” The campaign began on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and will continue until December 25, coinciding with the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
MK Preshow Shimray, convenor of the campaign, addressing a press conference at the BJP state office, said that the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s longstanding vision of encouraging indigenous products and empowering local producers, farmers, and artisans. He emphasized that the campaign is designed to strengthen both the economic base and cultural identity of the state and the country.
“The Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan is built on the spirit of ‘Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar-Ghar Swadeshi’. It aims to promote locally made products while engaging citizens across districts and constituencies,” Shimray said. The campaign will feature activities such as the Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Sammelan and the Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Rath Yatra, taking the message to communities across Manipur. Educational institutions will host rallies, song competitions, and cultural programs to involve students, while special stalls promoting indigenous products will be set up during major festivals like Diwali.
