Bumrah is “ready and keen” for both of the West Indies Tests, says Ajit Agarkar

India’s speed leader Jasprit Bumrah will be able to play in both Test matches against the West Indies, chief selector Ajit Agarkar stated, allaying worries about how he will handle his workload. India’s two-Test series roster was revealed, and Agarkar emphasized that Bumrah is “ready and keen” to play. “Bumrah is available for both tests, as this team is for both tests,” Agarkar stated during the news conference. He missed the fifth Test match against England, and we had a decent rest. Thus, we were given a fair break. Up until this week, even the Asia Cup was well-spaced. Bumrah is therefore eager and prepared to participate in both games.

Agarkar emphasized that the demands of the team come first, but that workload talks—which involve the coach, trainers, and physiotherapists—remain an essential component of the selection process. “Usually, the coach, trainers, and physiotherapists are consulted. The team will always come first, even if we obviously want the best for him. It’s always that way. We want him available as much as possible since he is a terrific performer, but we must exercise caution around him because there are some major tournaments coming up.

However, Agarkar continued, “The team always comes first.” Despite only playing in three of the five games because of workload management, Bumrah was instrumental in India’s Test series against England earlier this year. Since he took 14 wickets at an average of 26.00, he was tied for fourth place. India lost the first Test despite his efforts, but he had several memorable spells, including 5-74 at Lord’s and 5-83 at Headingley. Bumrah also suffered a rare setback at Old Trafford, giving up more than 100 runs in one inning for the first time in his career.
