At the Chalou Football Ground in Manipur, the 2nd Chalou Football Tournament came to an end with an exciting championship game and a lively cultural show. 34 teams from all over the Imphal East area participated in the competition, which took place from June 21 to July 4 and followed a fast-paced 9-a-side style. In the last game, Central High School won the championship trophy by defeating Nongren FC 4-1. The audience cheered enthusiastically as the winners celebrated their well-deserved triumph. The competition included exciting games, spectacular goals, and young kids displaying their skill and love for football over the course of the two weeks. In addition to uniting the community, the event gave local youth a useful platform.
Local performers showcased the region’s rich cultural legacy by performing traditional dances and songs, further enhancing the celebration. As part of Operation Sadbhavna, the Chalou Football Club arranged the tournament with help from the Indian Army. The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Red Shield Division, was the chief guest, along with other army officers, village leaders, and local residents. The competition aimed to guide young people in the proper direction and promote football while also fostering regional unity. The enthusiastic fans and sizable crowd showed how much Manipur loves football, which is without a doubt India’s most popular sport.
