Chandel Hosts Vikshit Bharat Youth Parliament

The Vikshit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 for Chandel district was hosted at the Southeast Manipur College, Komlathabi, under the theme ’50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy.’ The event was organized by the National Service Scheme, SEMCO, and Mera Yuva Bharat Chandel, attracting youth aged 18-25 from various institutions. Chief Guest Reikimdaar Khaling, the Sub Divisional Officer of Chandel, reflected on the 1975 national emergency’s impact on democracy, emphasizing the importance of citizen engagement beyond just elections. Keynote speaker Dr. Miranda Bembem Mutuwa, Coordinator of the IQAC at SEMCO, highlighted the event as a platform for youth voices in shaping national discourse, stressing that with 371 million young people in India, their participation in nation-building is essential. She encouraged participants to express their aspirations for the future. The top five winners—Roshni Nula, Lh Penahring, SK Jilihring, Tongsin Phowlnihring, and HL Amit Anal—were selected by the jury and will represent Chandel at the state-level competition.
