Clean water, clean energy: Solar station brings safe drinking water to villages

Bangladesh has launched its first solar-powered water purification facility in rural Khulna. Solar panels power reverse-osmosis units that remove arsenic and pathogens, serving over 3,000 residents.
The project is part of the government’s effort to ensure safe water while optimizing energy use and reducing operating costs.
State planners in West Bengal and NGOs in Assam and Nepal’s Terai region have expressed keen interest in scaling similar solutions to address energy and water access challenges in remote areas.
