With the objective of reconnecting with the people and reinforcing the party at the grassroots level, the Indian National Congress has been undertaking various nationwide campaigns such as the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Bharat Jodo Yatra, Samvidhan Bachao, and MGNREGA Bachao. As a continuation of these efforts, the party has introduced a new organisational drive titled Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan to further consolidate and energize the party structure. In this regard, a party strengthening meeting was held on Thursday at the office of the Block Congress Committee, Kakching. The programme focused on organisational review and discussions on reinforcing the party at different levels.Observers for the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan in Manipur — Vidyapati Senjam (Vice President, MPCC), Hareshwar Goswami (Vice President, MPCC), and W. Ratankumar (General Secretary, MPCC) — attended the programme. They were joined by MPCC Treasurer and former MLA Md. Fajur Rahim; President of District Congress Committee (DCC) Kakching, A. Rahman Chesaba; former MLAs Yengkhom Surchandra and Elangbam Dwijamani; MPCC Secretary Kshetrimayum Kennedy; PCC Member Dr. Huidrom Jiten; along with other party leaders and members.
Addressing the gathering, AICC Observer for Kakching DCC and Chandel DCC, Prafulla Gudadhe, stated that the newly launched initiative by the AICC aims to rejuvenate and strengthen the party organisation. He said that through the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan (SSA), efforts will be made to foster better coordination and stronger relationships among party members, elected representatives, office bearers, and local civil society organisations. The initiative also seeks to enhance accountability and transparency within the party structure. He expressed confidence that the renewed organisational push would help identify responsible leadership at the district level and nurture capable leaders at the grassroots. Meanwhile, President of Kakching District Congress Committee, A. Rahman Chesaba, informed that similar meetings will be held on February 21 at Sugnu Block Congress Committee, on February 22 at Hiyanglam Block Congress Committee and Kakching Block Congress Committee, and on February 24 at Wabagai Block Congress Committee.
Additionally, General Secretary of Chandel District Congress Committee, M.K. Noah Cholthe, stated that meetings will also be conducted on February 20 and 23 in Chandel and Tengnoupal districts respectively. Senior party leaders also held an extensive interaction with party workers and office bearers at NC Event Hall in Sapermeina, Kangpokpi district. The delegation was led by AICC Secretary and Manipur In-Charge Christopher Tilak, accompanied by HC Yogesh, AICC Observer for the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan to the Sadar Hills District Congress Committee (DCC), and Anwar Hussain, Secretary of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and SSA Observer for Sadar Hills. The team was received by local DCC leaders, reflecting renewed enthusiasm within the district unit.
The meeting, moderated by Dr Lamtinthang Haokip, Vice President of the MPCC and PCC member from 51-Saitu, saw detailed deliberations on structural reforms, cadre mobilisation, internal coordination and strategies to reconnect with grassroots workers. Leaders emphasized discipline, inclusivity and performance-based organizational culture as key pillars for rebuilding the party. Block-level restructuring, reconstitution of frontal organizations and strengthening of the Mahila Congress and Youth Congress wings were discussed at length. Observers sought candid feedback from workers on organizational gaps and outreach challenges in the district. Among those present were Sadar Hills DCC Working President Andrew Gangmei, District Mahila President Neinu Kipgen, DCC General Secretary JR Rangsonglar Chiru, along with office bearers from the Mahila and Youth Congress units of 46-Saikul, 50-Kangpokpi and 51-Saitu Assembly segments. Yogesh stressed that the newly elected district leadership would be entrusted.
