Under the initiative and supervision of Hiyanglam MLA Yumnam Radheshyam, construction of Burma-Sugnu road stretch has commenced since February 15 onwards. This portion of road has remained in a dilapidated condition for over 15-16 years, causing immense hardship to general public, he said during the launching function of the construction work.
Various villagers of Kakching district have been facing immense and untold hardships due to the inconveniences caused. The MLA said that despite financial constraints faced by the present new government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, approval was granted for development of the road in view of the untold hardships encountered by the people of Kakching, Thoubal and other neighbouring districts.Accordingly, construction work has begun from Wabagai Lamkhai.
Radheshyam further informed the public that one group of workers will undertake the road construction work from Wabagai Lamkhai and another group of workers will simultaneously begin work from the Sugnu side to expedite completion of the project in time. He said that this dual approach is aimed at ensuring early finalization of the project.Public ought to extend full cooperation to the labourers, engaged in the work,for early completion of the repairing and improvement of the road, he added.
Radheshyam further informed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand, work on National Highway 137(A), also known as Mayai Lambi, has been under progress with one team of workers operating from Imphal side and another team from Kakching Lamkhai side, and noted that completion of these road projects will ease travel for the common people.
