The prize distribution ceremony of the 4th Mission Transformation Government Schools (MTGS) competition 2025 organized by MTGS was held at JN Dance Academy Imphal auditorium. The competition was conducted exclusively for students studying in government schools from Class III to Class VIII across Manipur. It aimed at identifying and nurturing the hidden talents and intellectual abilities of young learners. The prize distribution event witnessed the presence of Director of Education (Schools), Government of Manipur, Ng. Bhogendro Meitei, (MCS) as Chief Guest. National Awardee Teacher and MTGS Advisor Kangjam Jayenta presided over the function. Finance Controller, Samagra Shiksha Manipur, Bobby Moirangthem (MFS), along with ZEO Wangoi Arambam Anil Kumar, ZEO Zone (I) Oinam Hemchandra, ZEO Zone (II) Sucheta Khumukcham, ZEO Zone (III) Y. Acouba, and ZEO Kakching M. Rakhesh, attended as Guests of Honour. Addressing the gathering, Bhogendro stated that improving the academic standard and overall development of children is a top priority of the Education Department. He said that several national-level competitions are being organized to help students recognize their own capabilities and potential. He emphasized that the MTGS competition is a timely and meaningful initiative aimed at helping students discover their hidden talents. The involvement of national awardees, administrators, and experienced educationists in mentoring students, he said, will help guide them towards recognizing their talents across various fields.
He further remarked that society often forces children to aspire only towards becoming doctors or engineers after Class XII, which is neither practical nor achievable for everyone. Instead, students should be helped to identify their individual strengths and guided towards suitable career paths. Despite the challenges faced by the education sector in Manipur, he appreciated the MTGS members for stepping forward with innovative ideas to uplift Government schools. He encouraged MTGS to continue its initiatives with greater dedication and assured support from his end. Speaking at the occasion, MTGS Executive Member Shagolsem Herojit Meitei stated that MTGS is a collective initiative of committed teachers working voluntarily to unlock the potential of Government school students beyond textbooks. He said the concept was initiated by MTGS Founder President Khumanthem Keshorkumar, with teachers contributing their skills, resources, and expertise. He added that MTGS aims to ensure that government school students can compete equally with private school students by creating platforms that bring out their hidden abilities. Classroom teaching alone, he said, is not sufficient; exposure through competitions is essential.
MTGS has also received moral and physical support from various stakeholders, well-wishers, and Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs). Special initiatives have been taken to support students in IDP areas and to strengthen co-curricular activities in different locations. He further informed that MTGS plans to award scholarships to rank holders, and organize summer and winter camps, career counselling programmed, interview skills training, and other co-curricular activities for higher-class students. The competition syllabus was designed according to age and class levels, with multiple-choice questions for Classes III to VIII. Improvements were made based on experiences from previous competitions. To ensure transparency and accessibility, MTGS introduced both online and offline registration systems through its official website, along with online admit card downloads. Barcode-based examination systems were introduced to familiarize students with modern examination practices. Examination results were also made accessible through mobile phones. The Zonal Education Officers were also appreciated for their proactive roles, guidance and continuous support in ensuring the smooth and successful organization of the competition.
On the occasion, the Best Zon
