The district-level launch of National Deworming Day (1st Round 2026) for Kakching district was held today at Langmeidong Higher Secondary School, Langmeidong, organised by the District Health Society Kakching in collaboration with the Zonal Education Office, Kakching.
Altogether, around 100 students were administered deworming tablets. The tablets were distributed in all schools across Kakching district with the launch of National Deworming Day today.
The programme was attended by Dr. Th. Rajen Singh, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and District Mission Director, District Health Society Kakching, as Chief Guest; Mayanglambam Rakhesh, Zonal Education Officer, Kakching, as President; along with Ch. Khomei Singh, Principal of Langmeidong Higher Secondary School; M. Bimola Devi, Supervisor, ICDS Kakching; and Dr. Th. Shyamananda Singh, DNO, Child Health, Kakching district, as Guests of Honour.
ASHA workers, and teachers of Langmeidong Higher Secondary School also participated in today’s deworming campaign. Another round of deworming will be held on April 7, to cover those who missed today’s deworming administration.
National Deworming Day is an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, with the objective of deworming all preschool and school-age children (enrolled and non-enrolled) between the ages of 1 and 19 years through schools and Anganwadi Centres, in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education, and quality of life.
