Five individuals, including KCP cadre, have arrested in Manipur for alleged arms possession and extortion activities

On July 28 and 29, security forces in Manipur apprehended multiple individuals associated with militant organizations and criminal gangs during distinct operations in the Imphal East and West districts. On July 28, Md. Samir Khan, affiliated with the criminal group ‘Ningolmacha’, was taken into custody. Additionally, Thiyam Boynao Singh, an active member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG), was also arrested on the same day. The following day, July 29, security forces executed a coordinated combing and cordon-and-search operation, resulting in the arrest of two active members of the KCP faction—KCP (MFL). Khaidem Nongpoknganba Singh and Thounaojam Ashokumar Singh were apprehended on July 29. In response to the threats posed by underground organizations and organized crime syndicates, authorities have escalated their anti-extortion and anti-militancy efforts. They have reaffirmed their dedication to safeguarding citizens by eliminating such elements through focused intelligence-driven actions.
