Flipkart Expands NE Operations With New Grocery Fulfilment Centre

Flipkart has launched its first grocery fulfillment center in Agartala, Tripura, marking a significant step into Northeast India’s growing online grocery market. This new center aims to boost last-mile delivery and offer flexible delivery options to meet increasing demand in Agartala and nearby areas.

Stocking over 4,000 products, including staples like rice, flour, pulses, snacks, beverages, household items, and personal care products, the selection also features popular local brands to cater to regional tastes. This expansion is part of Flipkart’s strategy to strengthen its presence in underserved markets, focusing on tier-2 and tier-3 cities where demand for quick, reliable delivery is rising.

The 35,000-square-foot facility can handle over 5,000 orders daily across Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland, generating over 200 jobs. Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha praised the initiative for enhancing digital infrastructure and creating employment opportunities. Flipkart’s investment supports local farmers, MSMEs, and regional growth while bridging the digital divide.
