Reiterating its stance on the formation of the Government of Manipur, the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) expressed that any Kuki-Zo MLA ignoring the collective decision from the Lungthu Meeting would act individually and KZC will not bear responsibility for the consequences. A meeting on December 30, 2025, which included various tribes and organizations, unanimously resolved that the Kuki-Zo people would not participate in the government’s formation, citing severe atrocities by the Meiteis and enforced separation. This decision was reaffirmed during the Lungthu Meeting on January 13, 2026, where a commitment from the State and Central Governments regarding Kuki-Zo’s political demands was deemed necessary for any participation. KZC maintains that given the forced separation from the Meiteis, joining their government is illogical and unacceptable. It urged all MLAs to respect the Kuki-Zo people’s collective will and aspirations.
