Governor, Chief Minister greet people on Cheiraoba

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla coveyed his heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Sajibu Nongmapanba (Cheiraoba), the traditional New Year festival of the Meitei community.
In a message, the Governor said, “Cheiraoba signifies renewal, hope, and the beginning of a new year filled with optimism and aspirations. The festival reflects our rich cultural heritage and age-old traditions that promote family bonding, respect for elders, and harmony within society”.
“As we welcome the New Year, let us reaffirm our commitment to unity, peace, and collective progress. May this festival bring happiness, peace and prosperity, and strengthen the spirit of togetherness among all communities in the State,” the Governor said.
Chief Minister Y Khemchand also extended his heartiest greetings to the people of the State on the joyous occasion of Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba which falls on March 19 this year.
“Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba, celebrated on the first day of the lunar month of Sajibu, marks the beginning of a new year in Manipur. The festival brings new hopes and opportunities to the people, with renewed strength and vigour, to march towards new heights of success. On this day, people from all walk of life climb hill tops with the belief that they will continue to grow and achieve further success throughout the year. Often considered as a harbinger of prosperity and progress, the festival reinforces the age-old bond of brotherhood between the different communities of the State,” Chief Minister Khemchand said in his message.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister called upon the people to renew their commitment and dedication towards taking Manipur to greater heights of inclusive growth and development.
