Governor of Manipur and Chief Rector of Manipur University, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, today attended the 15th Convocation Ceremony of the University as the Chief Guest. On the occasion, degrees across various disciplines were conferred upon graduates from the academic years 2013 to 2020. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh; Chancellor of Manipur University, Prof. T. Tirupati Rao; Vice-Chancellor, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh and Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General, Association of Indian Universities, among other distinguished dignitaries. Held after a long gap, the convocation witnessed a large gathering of graduates, students, academicians, and scholars, marking a significant milestone in the University’s academic journey.
As part of the convocation ceremony, the Governor conferred medals upon meritorious students from various disciplines who secured top positions in their respective courses, in recognition of their academic excellence and outstanding performance.
Addressing at the convocation ceremony, the Governor said that it was a moment of great pride and fulfilment for the graduating students, marking not only the culmination of their academic journey but the beginning of a new phase filled with opportunities and responsibilities. He emphasised that institutions like Manipur University play a crucial role in shaping young minds and contributing to nation-building, while underscoring that education must go beyond degrees to foster integrity, ethical values, and a sense of duty.
Calling upon the graduates to be torchbearers of a Viksit Bharat, the Governor urged them to pursue lifelong learning, embrace innovation and self-reliance, and channel their knowledge towards the greater good. Emphasising the significance of the Northeast in India’s development, he underscored the responsibility of its youth to foster peace, progress, and social harmony, and encouraged them to uphold unity, inclusivity, and constitutional values as they step forward with confidence and determination.
The ceremony concluded on a note of pride and optimism, celebrating academic excellence and reaffirming the University’s commitment to nurturing future leaders dedicated to the progress of society and the nation.
