Governor Summons Manipur Legislative Assembly Session Today

Hours after Y Khemchand was sworn in as the Chief Minister, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla summoned the seventh session of the Twelfth Manipur Legislative Assembly to meet at 4 pm on February 5, at the Assembly Hall in Imphal. “In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (1) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India, I, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Governor of Manipur, hereby summon the 7th Session of the Twelfth Manipur Legislative Assembly to meet at 1600 hours on Thursday, the 5th of February 2026,” said an order issued by the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat late on Wednesday night. Ahead of the Assembly session, a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) is likely to be held at 3 pm.

Shortly after being sworn in as the Chief Minister of the State at the Lok Bhavan, Y Khemchand had chaired the first Cabinet meeting of the newly formed Manipur government at the Chief Minister’s bungalow on Wednesday night. The meeting was held about an hour after Khemchand was sworn in as the Chief Minister. Chief secretary Dr Puneet Kumar Goel also attended the meeting along with deputy chief miniser L Dikho and newly sworn-in ministers Govindas Konthoujam and K Loken Singh. “The first Cabinet meeting of the Government of Manipur under the new leadership was held today at the Chief Minister’s Bungalow” an official statement said. “The meeting also marked the beginning of collective decision-making and governance for the newly constituted State Cabinet” it said.
