The Government of Manipur has urged citizens to immediately report any form of extortion threats — whether through phone calls, messages, letters, or other means — to the Integrated Anti-Extortion Cell established under the Home Department on January 26, 2025.The dedicated unit comprises personnel from the State Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and the Assam Rifles/Indian Army. Its purpose is to ensure a coordinated and united approach in tackling extortion-related crimes across the state.
In a press release, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Home) informed that the Anti-Extortion Cell’s toll-free helpline — 1800 202 3326 — is operational 24/7 for public use. Citizens can reach the number at any time to report extortion threats and receive immediate assistance. The government has called on everyone, including public servants, to come forward without hesitation and cooperate fully with the authorities. Officials assured that the Integrated Anti-Extortion Cell will swiftly act on verified reports by coordinating with concerned police stations and security forces to take prompt and effective action.
Reaffirming its firm stance on maintaining peace and public safety, the Government of Manipur reiterated its unwavering commitment to eradicating extortion and urged collective public participation in this ongoing effort.
