According to a State Health and Family Welfare Department official, Mizoram is one of the states chosen to receive the HPV vaccine. In order to prevent cervical cancer, girls between the ages of 9 and 14 will receive the vaccine for free. The girls will soon start receiving the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine from the Mizoram Health and Family Welfare Department, according to Dr. Lalmuanawma Jongte, the State Immunization Officer and Joint Director of the Extended Programme on Immunization (EPI).
More than 75,000 names of girls in the age range have been shortlisted from schools throughout the state, according to Jongte, along with the names of those who are not enrolled in school. The Ministry of Family Welfare and Health received the lists from the department. “There are plans to include female refugees within the targeted age group in the vaccination program,” Jongte added.
