Manipur Police arrested one Sahid Shah (35) of Kairang Mayai Leikai, Imphal East district, a Warder in Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa who was illegally facilitating unauthorized use of mobile phones to inmates, including those imprisoned under UAP (Act) to make and receive phone calls. Multiple mobile phones and SIM cards have been seized. Investigation so far has established financial transactions from within the jail premises by inmates through the UPI account of the arrestee. Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the full extent of involvement and to identify other persons connected with the FIR case registered at Heingang-PS, Imphal East district.
