The Khelo India Football Tournament 2025 began with a vibrant opening ceremony at South Changoubung, reflecting the government’s ongoing efforts to promote grassroots sports and nurture young talent across the country. Organised by the 112 BN CRPF in collaboration with the South Changoubung Youth Club (SCYC) and supported by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the five-day tournament will feature 16 teams competing in a high-voltage knockout format from November 17 to 21. A total of 15 matches—including Pre-Quarter Finals, Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals, and the Grand Finale—will decide the champions.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by DIG Rajesh Kumar, Kangpokpi Range, CRPF, as the chief guest, alongside senior CRPF officials and members of the South Changoubung Village Authority, Women Wing, and SCYC. Traditional shawls were presented to dignitaries, following local customs. DIG Rajesh Kumar officially opened the tournament by kicking the first ball, met with enthusiastic cheers from spectators. The winning team will receive a trophy, ₹25,000 in prize money, medals, and certificates, while the runners-up will be awarded a trophy, ₹15,000, medals, and certificates. Special individual awards will be presented during the closing ceremony on November 21, which will also feature cultural performances.
Addressing the gathering, DIG Rajesh Kumar highlighted the significance of the Khelo India initiative in reviving India’s sporting culture, developing grassroots talent, and fostering national integration. He commended the efforts of 112 BN CRPF and SCYC for creating a meaningful platform in Kangpokpi, noting that sports continue to serve as a powerful instrument for unity, discipline, and peace.
