LPG carriers put an end to the strike on Imphal-Jiribam Highway due to illegal taxes

The seven-day cease-work strike by the All Manipur Bulk LPG Transporters Association (AMBTA) was called off Friday night. LPG bullet tank trucks have therefore started moving LPG again today. AMBTA began an indefinite ceasework protest this past Monday in response to the high unlawful taxes on the Imphal-Jiribam route. Late last night, an AMBTA team met with the Director of CAF&PD, the Commissioner (Home), the Commissioner (CAF&PD), and the Chief Secretary.

The ceasework strike, which started on Monday, was initiated to pressure the state government to return the unlawful taxes received from LPG bullet tank trucks on NH-37, AMBTA president A Tamphayai informed The Sangai Express. The Chief Secretary made a sincere plea for the ceasework protest to be put on hold for at least a week and promised that the transporters’ requests will be met following talks with senior IOCL officials on January 13.

Additionally, the Chief Secretary promised that within the next few days, a representation detailing the carriers’ complaints will be delivered to the Union Minister of Petroleum. AMBTA agreed to halt the cease-work strike yesterday in response to the Chief Secretary’s appeal, with the threat of a resumption within a week if AMBTA’s demands are not fulfilled. according to Tamphayai, till January 16. He went on to say that the ceasework strike will restart in a week if the AMBTA’s demands are not fulfilled.
