Mahindra 3XO To Bid Adieu To SsangYong Tivoli Underpinnings

Mahindra is preparing to phase out the 3XO, its compact SUV based on the SsangYong Tivoli platform, marking the end of an era. This decision aligns with Mahindra’s new global strategy centered on the upcoming NU_IQ modular platform, which will underpin its next-generation SUVs starting in 2027. Introduced in 2024, the 3XO was a heavily revamped successor to the XUV300, carrying forward the Tivoli-derived base that has supported Mahindra’s compact SUVs for nearly ten years.

While the existing platform helped Mahindra establish a strong presence in the sub-4-metre SUV segment, the company is shifting to a fully indigenous platform for future models. The Vision.X concept showcased recently is expected to be the next version of the 3XO. The NU_IQ platform offers multi-energy compatibility with petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains, along with flexible drive options and global adaptability. It features a lightweight monocoque design, spacious interiors, and advanced safety. With production slated for 2027, this move marks Mahindra’s step toward becoming a global SUV maker with entirely homegrown, innovative vehicles.
