Manipur: BSF jawan Deepak Chingakham’s body brought to Imphal; state pays tribute

The lifeless body of Constable (General Duty) Deepak Chingakham of the 7th Battalion, Border Security Force (BSF), who was martyred in a drone attack from Pakistan at Kharkhola Border Outpost (BOP) on May 10, was brought to Imphal today. A wreath-laying ceremony was held at Bir Tikendrajit Park, where state dignitaries, top officials, and Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey paid heartfelt tributes to the fallen hero.

An air of solemnity marked the proceedings as a huge salute was rendered to honour Chingakham’s ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Hailing from Yairipok Yambem in Imphal East district, the 25-year-old constable laid down his life protecting the nation, leaving behind a grieving family and a proud but heartbroken state.

A senior BSF official remarked, “Deepak was a brave jawan, and he fought bravely. In the last 3-4 days amid the Indo-Pak escalation, Deepak played a key role in destroying a Pakistani post. However, he succumbed to his injuries when a Pakistani drone came and fell near him. The BSF family will stand behind his family for any assistance.” Officials reaffirmed the state’s solidarity with the bereaved family and reiterated unwavering support to the armed forces guarding the nation’s borders.
