Manipur Governor Highlights Contributions of Manipuris to India’s Military Legacy

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Tuesday attended the 10th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day – 2026 held at the Palace Auditorium, MSFDS, Imphal, where he honoured the invaluable service of veterans and ex-servicemen. During the event, the Governor felicitated 53 distinguished veterans, including Gallantry Award recipients and Veer Naris, in recognition of their bravery, dedication, and lifelong service to the nation.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Bhalla lauded the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces and expressed the nation’s deep gratitude to veterans, ex-servicemen, and their families. He said Veterans’ Day stands as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made to protect India’s sovereignty, unity, and democratic ideals.

The Governor particularly highlighted the significant role of Manipuris in India’s military history, commending their exceptional contribution in defending the nation’s borders and strengthening national security. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of serving personnel, veterans, and Veer Naris, citing initiatives related to healthcare assistance, pension benefits, resettlement programmes, and skill development.

The programme was attended by MLA Th. Biswajit Singh, Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, senior civil and police officials, senior officers from the Armed Forces and paramilitary units, along with a large number of veterans and ex-servicemen.
