On November 28, the Mizo National Front issued a press statement demanding the resignation of Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, to which the Manipur government has responded forcefully. In addition to criticizing the MNF for its alleged anti-national actions and historical role in sowing strife, the response emphasizes Manipur’s strong position against outside meddling in its own affairs. The Indian government is trying to fence its open borders with Myanmar in order to prevent illegal immigration, stop the trafficking of weapons and drugs, and protect internal security and defense. The Manipur government, in a news statement, characterized the Mizo National Front as an anti-national organization.
According to the announcement, the majority of Manipur’s narcotics and illegal immigration issues stem from Myanmar. It recalled that in the past, the MNF had led a separatist effort in Assam’s Mizo district. The administration also claimed that illegal immigrants from Myanmar, whose economy was impacted by illegal poppy farming during Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s War on Drugs, are to blame for the current situation in Manipur.The authorities accused MNF and others of disseminating false information and rejected assertions that the crisis was caused by any religious policy. The Kuki side’s narcoterrorist financing of the battle served as a reminder to the MNF. The report questioned the causes of an unusual rise in the number of villages in some Manipur districts that are dominated by Kuki. It contrasted this with a negligible rise in districts dominated by Naga.
