Manipur joined the rest of the country in observing Martyrs’ Day yesterday. The main state-level function of observance was held at Gandhi Memorial Hall,Imphal where Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla attended as the Chief Guest.
Members of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Chief Secretary, Security Advisor, DGP, several civil and police officers also attended the programme.The observance marked the 78th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.
Governor led the homage by laying a wreath at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.Attendees paid floral tributes at Gandhiji’s statue, honouring his enduring legacy of truth and non-violence.
A two-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the natio’s Father and all other martyrs of the freedom struggle.
