Manipur Police arrests seven KCP militants in Kakching district

In Kakching district, Manipur Police detained seven KCP (PWG) militants after two Bihar migrant workers were killed. The arrests came as part of a stepped-up campaign following the killings on December 14. Although the direct involvement of the militants is still being investigated, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said the operation is intended to address the state’s persistent security issues. During the targeted operation, firearms were seized and the militants who had been captured were identified.

Irengbam Rameshwar Singh (48), a senior KCP (PWG) operative, was arrested in the Kakching Lamkhai area to start the operation. Six more militants were captured during a police operation on a militant stronghold in Kakching Mamang Ching Laipham Loknung, which was based on his interrogation. Elangabam Herojit Singh (40), Heikrujam Prem (28), Okram Arundatta (30), Senjam Rebingson (27), Okram Amarjit (31), Aribam Ghanendrajit Sharma (25), and Chongtham Rajkumar (26), were among the militants who were taken into custody.

Manipur Police took a sizable weapons cache from KCP-PWG terrorists during the raid. Nineteen rounds of live ammo, three HE grenades, two DBBL and SBBL guns, a 7.62mm sniper rifle, and several firearms, including 7.65mm, 9mm, and.32 pistols, were among the found armament. Ten cell phones, two Baofeng handsets, and an unregistered two-wheeler vehicle were also found during the operation. The militants who were captured have been brought to the Kakching Police Station for additional examination. Authorities have underlined their commitment to protecting local residents and fighting insurgent activity in the area.
