Manipur Security Forces Intensify Anti-Militant Crackdown, Arrest 5 Including Woman Cadre

On Saturday, security forces in Manipur apprehended Khangembam Khumanthem Auna Devi, an active woman cadre associated with the banned insurgent group, People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak / People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA), for allegedly recruiting new members for the organization. The 43-year-old was arrested at the Sawombung Forest Gate area, within the jurisdiction of Lamlai Police Station, situated in Imphal East district, during which a mobile phone was confiscated.

Additionally, Thiyam Athoi Meitei, a 24-year-old cadre from the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Pro), commonly known as PREPAK (Pro), was also captured in a separate operation at Wangkhei Andro Parking area under Porompat Police Station in the same district.

Further operations led to the arrest of three men—Md. Abdul Gafar, Md. Boicha, and Kh. Akip—ages ranging from 22 to 23—in Lilong Bazar along National Highway 102, managed by Lilong Police Station in Thoubal district. The trio was found in possession of illegal items, including a 9 mm pistol and seven rounds of corresponding ammunition, around 494 grams of heroin brown sugar, four mobile phones, and a Hyundai Creta vehicle. Authorities suspect these individuals of involvement in illegal arms trade and narcotics trafficking, with ongoing investigations aimed at uncovering the full scope of their activities and potential connections to organized groups.
