Security forces in Manipur have arrested Tekcham Mani Meitei, also known as Jacob, an active member of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), from his home in Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, Imphal East district. The 51-year-old individual, originally from Wangjing Wangkhei in Thoubal district, was apprehended during a security operation, which resulted in the confiscation of a keyboard, a mobile phone, and an Aadhaar card. This arrest is part of a broader initiative involving intelligence-driven combing, cordon, and search operations aimed at apprehending individuals engaged in extortion and other criminal activities throughout the state.
In a related security operation, authorities neutralized 27 country-made bombs found at a secure location near Monglham village, under the jurisdiction of Thoubal Dam police station. The revelation has led Manipur police to issue public advisories urging citizens to refrain from believing unfounded rumors and to remain vigilant concerning misleading videos. The police emphasized the importance of verifying the authenticity of any viral videos or audio clips by contacting the Central Control Room at 9233522822. They cautioned that sharing false information online could lead to legal repercussions.
Additionally, the state police have called upon the public to return any looted arms, ammunition, and explosives to either the police or the nearest security forces immediately. This call to action highlights the ongoing efforts to maintain security and order in the region amid rising concerns about criminal activities and misinformation.
