A massive cache of weapons and ammunition was found by Manipur security personnel during their regular area control exercises and search operations in the outskirts and weak spots of the hill and valley districts. At Phayeng Ridge, which is situated between Freedom Hill and Phayeng village under New Keithelmanbi-PS, Kangpokpi district, the personnel began an operation on January 13.
Two bolt action rifles, three 9mm pistols, one 0.32 pistol, one pistol, three No. 36 hand grenades, four electric detonators, three No. 36 hand grenade detonators, two.380mm live round munitions, four 0.22 mm live round munitions, four 9mm live round munitions, two Tear Smoke shells (SR), one Gas Gun shell, one Tear Smoke (LR), and one Baofeng radio set were found.
In another operation, security personnel found one 9mm CMG with two magazines, two country-made single barrel rifles, one No 36 handgrenade, and one Motorola (Baofeng) in the Zero Point-P1 Railway Tunnel Road (06 km north of COB Kotlen) areas under New Keithelmanbi-PS, Kangpokpi district.
