Maruti Suzuki Commissions 10 Automated Driving Test Tracks in Tamil Nadu

Tech-Enabled Evaluation System Aims to Boost Transparency and Road Safety

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has partnered with the Government of Tamil Nadu to commission seven new Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs), completing the automation of all ten designated driving test tracks across the state.
The initiative follows a Memorandum of Agreement signed between the automaker and the Transport Department of Tamil Nadu to modernize and standardize the driving license testing process. With the latest commissioning, all ten Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) are now operational.
According to Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer (Corporate Affairs) at Maruti Suzuki, the technology-driven system is designed to make the licensing process more transparent and objective. “Equipped with high-definition cameras and advanced analytics, these ADTTs enable a comprehensive, efficient, and transparent assessment process. It eliminates any human bias and ensures that only skilled drivers are awarded a license,” he said.

The ADTTs are fitted with high-definition cameras, RFID sensors, real-time analytics, and an integrated IT system. The automated setup monitors and evaluates driving skills without manual intervention, ensuring uniform standards and reducing the possibility of discretion or malpractice.
The facilities will cater to applicants seeking driving licenses for two-wheelers and light motor vehicles. The automated tracks have been established in Coimbatore (Central), Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Madurai (North), Sivagangai, Dindigul, Tiruchirappalli (West), Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, and Marthandam.
The move is expected to significantly enhance road safety by promoting disciplined driving practices and enforcing rigorous testing standards. By leveraging technology for driver assessment, the initiative aims to ensure that only competent drivers are granted licenses, thereby contributing to accident prevention and safer roads.
With Tamil Nadu now fully equipped with automated test tracks under this partnership, the model could serve as a benchmark for other states seeking to adopt transparent, technology-backed systems for driver evaluation and licensing.
