More Than 200 Workers Defect to National People’s Party in Manipur

The Manipur State Unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) organized a consultative meeting-cum-induction program at Classic Grande, Chingmeirong, where leaders stressed the importance of unity among the people of Manipur.

Speaking at the program, Tamenglong Assembly Constituency MLA Janghemlung Panmei stated that attempts to divide people in the name of hill and valley should be rejected, asserting that all communities in the state are Manipuris. He emphasized that religion is a personal matter and should not be used as a tool to create division among the people.

Panmei further noted that while differences may exist between regions and communities, these should not lead to hatred or discrimination. Instead, people should focus on strengthening unity and mutual respect across the state, he said.

During the program, around 201 individuals from different districts formally joined the party.

Addressing the gathering, NPP National Vice President Irengbam Hemochandra Singh said that incidents of racism against people from Northeast India have been increasing in various parts of the country. He stressed the need for people of the Northeast to stand united and work collectively to address such challenges.

He also highlighted that the NPP aims to build a united Manipur while respecting the distinct traditions and cultures of different communities. According to him, the party is committed to strengthening unity across the Northeast region and ensuring the welfare and rights of the people.

Responding to questions from the media regarding the upcoming elections, party leaders stated that the NPP will prioritize the interests of the people and work towards bringing positive change and development in the state.
