Naga youth students drug misuse is on the rise in Dimapur

The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has expressed serious concerns over the rise in drug abuse among students and the youth in and around Dimapur. The Police Department and other civil society organizations (CSOs) have been actively fighting Nagaland’s expanding drug problem. The Union cautioned that despite the state’s unyielding and strict stance against drug addiction, the current state of affairs is far from resolved because drug use is still rising.

This seriously jeopardizes the wellbeing of every segment of society and establishes a bad precedent. It may be noted that the DNSU has regularly emphasized the issue of substance addiction in the past. They have also asserted that there has been a concerning trend in the district’s drug supply and sales. The Union is of the view this alarming development aggravates the the issues faced by communities and jeopardizes attempts to provide a safe environment for the younger generation.
