Nepal Launches National Women’s Soccer League to Empower Girls Across Districts

Nepal has inaugurated its first National Women’s Soccer League, featuring 12 teams from districts across the country. The league aims to promote female participation, youth health, and district-level leadership development.

Matches will take place in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Biratnagar, with scholarships awarded to standout players for overseas training. Sponsors include local banks and the Asian Football Confederation.

The initiative aligns with SAARC Sports Council objectives and is generating interest in nearby Indian states like Sikkim and West Bengal, where local women’s football leagues are also growing.
