Ngamba Longjam Clinches Super Bantamweight Title in Thailand

Bringing laurels to Manipur and the nation, Ngamba Longjam of Keishamthong Longjam Leirak clinched the Super Bantamweight Championship at an international boxing event held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The bout was staged in Bangkok, Thailand, under the banner “The Heart of Steel,” organized by Highland Boxing Promotion at the Highland Boxing Gym on February 14. The contest featured a six-round Super Bantamweight bout between India and Myanmar, with Ngamba Longjam representing India against Myanmar’s Saw Thank Zin.

Displaying exceptional skill, stamina and ring control, Ngamba dominated the closely fought contest and sealed victory in the final round, securing the championship title on foreign soil. Son of Longjam Hemjit and Longjam Ongbi Bhabini, Ngamba developed a deep passion for boxing from an early age. Through years of disciplined training and dedication, he has earned multiple titles at the state, national and international levels, steadily building his profile in the sport.

His latest international triumph has not only strengthened Manipur’s rich sporting legacy but also brought pride to India. Members of the Keishamthong Longjam Leirak Development Club (KLLDC) and local Meira Paibi groups have extended heartfelt congratulations, expressing immense pride in the young boxer’s remarkable achievement. Ngamba’s victory stands as a shining example of perseverance and determination, inspiring young athletes across the state to strive for excellence in sports.
