Nurses’ Training Programme Held at RIMS

The Department of Nursing, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital, Imphal, organized a one-day nurses’ training programme today on the theme “First Responder in Patient Care” at the Neuro-Intensive Care Unit (Neuro-ICU), RIMS Hospital, Imphal. The programme was graced by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, as the Chief Guest. The function was presided over by Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal, and was attended by Prof. L. Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics), and Smt. N. Ibemhal, Chief Nursing Officer, RIMS, Imphal, as Guests of Honour. Speaking at the occasion, Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma appreciated the well-organized one-day training on nursing as first responders, noting advanced training at RML Hospital and plans for knowledge dissemination. He said that nurses were recognized as primary first responders. Nursing was described as a commitment requiring competence and compassion, with continuous education deemed essential. He reaffirmed excellence, encouraged active participation, regular trainings, internal resources, and congratulated the nursing officers.

The training programme featured a series of expert lectures focusing on key areas such as professional ethics, emergency management, and effective communication skills, emphasizing the vital role of nursing professionals as first responders in patient care. In addition, a panel discussion on report writing was conducted by the senior-most nursing officials of RIMS Hospital, Imphal, providing valuable insights and practical guidance to the participants. At the conclusion of the programme, certificates of recognition were awarded to the participants and the resource persons in appreciation of their active participation and contributions. The programme was aimed at strengthening professional skills, enhancing clinical competence, and reinforcing the standards of quality patient care among nursing personnel of RIMS Hospital.
