The railways are attributing the water leak on the Vande Bharat train between Varanasi and Delhi to clogged filters. On the train, Darshil Mishra posted about his experience online, claiming that the railway workers did nothing to address the problem in spite of numerous concerns. A video of water seeping from the roof was also uploaded by him. On India’s high-end train, another video from the same trip went viral, with some people mockingly referring to it as a “freebie.”
Initially, the Railways did little to address his grievances. When all the criticism had already accumulated, they merely released a statement. In essence, they clarified that the problem was brought on by clogged drain holes in the Return Air Duct of the Roof Mounted Package Unit (RMPU). Because the mixed media/return air filter was clogged, water was able to enter the air duct during the train’s braking and began to drip into the passenger compartment.
On Train No. 22415 (Varanasi–New Delhi Vande Bharat Express), a water leak was observed from the return air duct in coach C-7 (seat no. 76). Because of the drop tray’s drain holes created by the Mix media/return air filter, condensate water gathered beneath the RMPU’s cooling coil. Water dripped into the passenger area after entering the return air duct while braking, RailwaySeva posted on X.
